As a Clinical Psychologist, I am honoured to join people on some of their challenging journeys to build on their strengths, resilience and improve their quality of life. Through this journey, I am committed to provide an insightful, non-judgemental, warm, empathic, and collaborative space where my clients can find safety and direction in their path to self-discovery, healing and happiness.
...Having been born in Dubai and educated in the United Kingdom, I have learned the importance of cultural context to understand people’s experiences. This allowed me to approach my work from a compassionate, flexible, and person-centered perspective in mental health services.
I was a clinical psychologist assistant in the NHS specialising in complex cases involving burns patients and physical abuse in children and adults. Additionally, I worked extensively with refugees suffering from psychological trauma and adjustment issues. I have trained on assessing, diagnosing, and formulating treatments for a variety of mood, learning and neurological disorders that impact children and adults. I have had extensive experience in assessing ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Reading comprehension difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorders in addition to mood/behavioural concerns. I am a trained Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with years of experience in working with Anxiety and Depressive disorders. I utilise a primarily Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach in my work but draw on a number of third-wave therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Mindfulness based approaches and Positive Psychology approaches. This tool kit of therapeutic modalities allows me to be conscious to the needs of each individual where therapy is responsive rather than prescriptive.
My goal is to support children, adults, couples and families to find relief from emotional trauma, to choose their purpose and create the lives they wish for. I am passionate about educating and sharing knowledge around mental health and I believe that honest conversations and education can raise awareness and decrease stigma in our society.
