Insiya Dsouza

Insiya has 4+ years of experience working in mental-health areas such as complex trauma, stress and burnout, anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, loneliness, grief and bereavement, self-worth, LGBTQIA+ concerns, OCD, relational distress, existential angst, and more.

Her approach to therapy is trauma-informed, intersectional feminist, existential, self-compassion and strengths-based.... Insiya's practice is rooted in the humanistic and post-modern schools of psychotherapy and she also draws her techniques from IFS, narrative inquiry, mindfulness and cognitive therapy. She has a deep understanding of trauma and emotional neglect, and their impact on the nervous system, emotions and thought processes.

Insiya takes an anti-oppressive, queer affirmative and neuro-expansive stance in her work. Her practice takes into account the mental health challenges that come with navigating oppressive power structures and living in a fast-paced, capitalistic, and uncertain world.

Taking a depathologizing approach to mental health, Insiya shows up to the therapeutic space with openness, curiosity, presence, and a deep commitment to understanding the inner-world of her clients and the external eco-systems that impact their overall health. She is client-centered and non-directive, and brings a fair amount of reflectivity, questioning the status quo, humor and pop-culture references to her sessions.

She is well versed in working with a diverse population of clients, and is multi-culture sensitive. She facilitates individual one-on-one sessions, and works with adult clients above the age of 18.
